What's the correct way to apply artic silver 5?

I've got some cooling problems so have bought some new fans.

What's the best way to apply arctic silver 5 to the CPU & GPU?

Using google -
It seems for the CPU use 1 & half rice grain size blob in the middle,
put on heatsink turn 1-2 degrees clockwise & anti-clockwise then tighten.

Should i use the same method for the GPU or should i try for a very thin overall smear using an credit card?

make sure you allow time for the cpu to cool first otherwise your gonna have some explaining to do in A & E.
