hello my girl have un acer aspire 5630 notebook and yesterday when she tried to open the computer she got a black screen...the computer starts ok and when it goes to the screen that shows windows xp home edition it stacks there and become black....does anyone know what that might be?

Did you try safe mode?
yeap...it stops at the drivers..
-Recertify the hard drive
-Run QuikTech (or something similar)
-Run MemTest
-Run a Windows repair (assuming all the above passed)
BTW...you say it hangs on the drivers.
If you can see the driver on the end of the list (commonly "mup.sys" or "AGP.sys") that driver (or system file) has already loaded and Windows is hanging on whatever's next (which you can't see).
Just FYI.
chkdsk once saved me ! but in my case i was getting blue screen just after welcome message.
