Is the C word really that bad?
slipped THE 'C' word the other day, to a few peoples ABSOLUTE disgust.
I then made it worse by trying to justify that its just a word used to emphasise the severity of the person described.
Nope, I was definitely in the bad books.
But why the hell is it seen as being so bad in this modern age when we are surrounded by swear words.
What makes this word such a no no?
Maybe its a Aussie thing that its a shocker of a word here
then US movies dont have much of the word Cunt but Pommy movies are full of it
Re: Is the C word really that bad?
Who was it that found it so disgusting?
Obviously if you're public speaking in front of a class of students ANY swearing would be frowned upon.
Re: Is the C word really that bad?
It depends on the the situation, cunt.

Re: Is the C word really that bad?
Good question actually, I'm sure Wikipedia will know.
Edit:
There is a lot of information on Wiki but it seems to accepted very well in Australia, apparently it's still very offensive in England and even worse in the US of A though. I wouldn't know about the US but in England it's widely used and no one seems to care.
Re: Is the C word really that bad?
I think it's the nastiest word, depending on the context. I've used it a few times by accident, and it didnt get the best reactiin either.
But, a few of my Southern mates in the uk use it all the time, and i t just passes people by.
I guess it's losing its severity. Like fuck. Once it was a nasty word, now it's in every sentence sometimes with some people. Instead of very, we use fucking. Thats fucking good, and a range of grammatical and comprehensive forms can take.
I guess when the C* word eventually becomes common use, we'll have no shocking words left. We should make some up.
(I thought this was going to be a lame thread about Celtic or summat)
Re: Is the C word really that bad?
maybe it's bad because it's equally insulting to both sexes. for a guy to be called a cunt, disses his masculinity. for a woman, she comes away feeling bitchy, in addition.
Re: Is the C word really that bad?
well there was a time Damm and Hell was considered cursing I mean John Wayne was the first ever to use a swear word in a movie saying Damm
I think your right we better find a new swearword!
Re: Is the C word really that bad?
i think combo's will be the future.
For women, somthing like "you nasty little hooker"
For men, " C* faced gobshite".
Have used both, effect was made.
Re: Is the C word really that bad?
