Re: finally can buy a laptop
stay away from siemens, they are cheap and crap quality.never again.
HP Pavilion seems to be getting great reviews nowadays and applies to your price.
try this one http://www.mpx.no/aspx/produkt/prdin...spx?plid=81601
anything under 15inch is "small".
Re: finally can buy a laptop
Brands, personally I'd stay away from Sony. Others have good & inferior models.
Something to consider. Will you be carrying this across campus? If so I'd get one as light as possible. Generalweight is from 3-7lbs. Usuallyaround 6lbs for bargains. Every once in a while they have <4.5lbs lappys on sale. You'd think 2-3lbs heavier won't make a difference. But if you're walking 5mi+ a day on campus. Then 2-3lbs heavier is a BIG difference.

Honestly for $700-$800, I don't think he has to worry about a Sony laptop because they are wayy more overpriced than that.
IMO, I would go for a Dell because they make good bang for your buck laptops.
Re: finally can buy a laptop
Yeah, go for a Dell or HP... With $700-800, you can get one with a Core 2 Duo chip.
And make sure to Google for a coupon before you purchase one. :)
