Prince Sues YouTube, eBay, and Pirate Bay

"Pop star Prince said Thursday that he plans to sue social video site YouTube, online auction site eBay, and file trading site Pirate Bay in an attempt to reign in piracy of his work on the Internet. On a statement on his Web site, Prince said that while YouTube was already filtering out pornography, it was not filtering music and film content because it "is core to their business success." The move is somewhat surprising, considering Prince has had a history of challenging the music industry and its business practices.

Prince is working with British company Web Sheriff to assist in having the offending material removed. So far, it has successfully had about 2,000 unauthorized videos of Prince removed, however it said that new content is constantly appearing on the site. It had also removed about 300 items from eBay. "Prince strongly believes artists as the creators and owners of their music need to reclaim their art," the statement read."

prince always seemed rather level headed when it came to fighting the record companies. everyone took the piss with his name change to that sign but he got out of his contract.

He has also spoken out against the record companies on many occasions. hell his last album was given away free on the front of a newspaper to the outrage of the record companies since they thought it would de value music.

he does have the right to go after people on ebay selling pirate items. he also has the right to challenge youtube over his content. The law says at the minute he has to file a dmca takedown notice for every item. chances are the minute its removed its put straight back up again. its an endless cycle that is gonna cost him money until he gives up.
maybe he just wants a fairer system. he might even be willing to licence his content to be streamed off youtube for a modest price and filling against youtube was just a way to get them to sit down and talk about it.

calling him a cocksucker and his only fan base are all gay really just highlights your ignorance. He just finished a sold out a 21 show tour in London's 02 arena. that's 18,000 people a night. that's 378,000 people went to see him i don't know about you but that's quite a big fan base just in the u.k. so he hands out his new album for free and tries to make money actually touring. i don't know about you but he has my respect for that.
