Re: New computer- need help
Double the amount of RAM to 4GB- DDR2 is so cheap these days.
Get an 8800GT nVidia card (just released, should be in stock soon).
Make sure the power supply is up to the job.

In the US those cards will sell between $200 to $250...you can perform the appropriate conversion.
Yes, a real 500w would be fine.
Problem is, it's unlikely that most PSUs labeled as 500w will actually provide that much.
I'd say a Corsair 620w would be minimum and the more the merrier.
Re: New computer- need help
Well I have had this one for about a year now and it has worked great and I have a bunch of shit hooked up to it
Rosewill RP500-2 ATX12V v2.01 500W http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggIma...182-016-17.jpg
It's not modular which is what I will get next time but it works great and it's only 44 bucks US
Re: New computer- need help
Rosewill isn't up to the job OP wants.
Re: New computer- need help
So what PSU do you recommend then? I can't remember the forum ( Clocker was there maybe JG?) where the newer Rosewill got really good reviews. I mean the guy took the whole thing apart and everything and ran all these tests I know nothing about. Im not getting defensive Im only saying I thought it was good. Why do you say it's bad? I ask because I too am planning a new build soon and I think I should get a good PSU with all my other new stuff but I want to go modular this time

What he said.
Re: New computer- need help
Detale...
The forum would be JonnyGuru.com.
Rosewill is Newegg's house brand and depending on the model could be just about anything.
I don't discount your experience with the one you had (I used the first Ultra that came out- the first ever modular PSU- and had no problems although the forums were full of folks who'd blown their PCs using it) but you'd be better off not going for the budget end of the spectrum.
Weren't you the guy who just recently was prepared to spend over a grand on the CPU alone?
Would you be willing to risk that chip on a <$50 power supply?
