Billing accounting -program needed

I have a store where there are atleast 1000 items,i need to enter the details of these and mantain a database.
need a billing system for the store
which combination is the best and how can i start the billing programmng
which is the best combination of tools ex,vb and oracle or access....,please post me how to start one if u have done it.

You can use Readymade accounting software "Tally".

tally is already there ,i want it my own way..
