Scene Releases, What do they mean?

I have been playing with BitTorrent for 2 years, however, I don't really the term 'Scene Releases', what does it mean?

Could you explain please?

A scene release is a file released by a scene group, pretty much an underground group of people who upload pirated content that adheres to a specific standard.
