Time to get "Dedicated IP" with a new server?

I just got a new server from vectoral (running windows server 2003) which they apparently had in stock. The dedicated IP of the server which I need to connect to it is currently unavailable.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the IP of your server? I thought this would have been instant.

takes like 2 or 3 days sometimes, give it time (patience is a virtue)
