Scene (V2) Releases vs anonymous v0 rip
Would a scene music rip be on average better than a v0 rip from libble, stm, vipv2, what, kraytracker, or etc? I don`t normally get log files with the music i download, although when i do there normally at like 95% or higher
also, where do you download scene music rips? I'm guessing the mp3 section at scc is scene.. where else tho?
please dont answer unless you know enough to not just guess
Re: Scene (V2) Releases vs anonymous v0 rip
The mp3 section at SCC is definitely scene. VIPv2 is also scene.
Those are the only music sites I'm active at, and they are scene.
Re: Scene (V2) Releases vs anonymous v0 rip
"Better" is completely subjective. For many types of music, the difference between a V2 and V0 encode is negligible. In my experience, if someone knows enough to rip to V0, it'll sound as good or better than any other mp3. There's nothing special about scene mp3s, other than that (for the most part) they are all ripped the same way. A home user ripping with good software and settings will produce the same results. In the end, let your ears be the judge.

if its a specialist scene torrent tracker >>there's no diff in quality as they source/release direct from scene :yup:
Re: Scene (V2) Releases vs anonymous v0 rip
a v0 rip with a proper log will definitely sound better than a v2 rip. i even had several scene rips that turned out to be transcodes.
the next step is lossless (flac) which gives you the same quality as the original cd.
unfortunately the scene are the only one who buy/have access to brand new cds nowadays, so we should be thankful that we get a rip of some albums at all.
Re: Scene (V2) Releases vs anonymous v0 rip
technically both v2 and v0 are transparent so there shouldn't be any discernable difference in audible sound at all..i keep flacs for archiving, but i convert all of it to v2 for portable usage anyway.
Re: Scene (V2) Releases vs anonymous v0 rip
v2 is pretty poor quality, scene releases sucks big time usually : /

why would you say that? v2 is transparent to most people.
