Although I think you don't need sockscap, you can also setup your browser to use socks.

And as noted it's not efficient, because there are no fast and free VPN providers..
I think download will be 8kB/s, and you also have restrictions in time when using the free service..

If you can drop your IP and fetch a new one (dynamical address), that's way faster..

Dude , just stop using rapidshare and get into a private torrent tracker.. These methods waste tooo much time...

The catch is - when you have too much stuff on rapid with links that is not on torrents/eMule - then you are destined to use Rapidshit...
