i've installed the 2.04 codec pack....and now SOME of my Xvid files stutter....like ninja scroll TV episodes 6 and 7....any other xvid codecs i can use to sort this out???

Try first installing ffdshow. Just install and play, don't configure it unless it doesn't work. If that does not fix it, you can install a newer stable version of XviD from uManiac's place.
