i need to clear some space but would rather not part with my movies. i don't have time to wait and burn them so is the above that i'm suggesting possible? create a system restore point, delete the files, then use system restore in the future to get the files back?

Get rid of that restore crap and hibernation and you'll free up to 1 GIG or slightly more.
Anyway, software questions belong in software world unless you are asking about physical hard drive changes ( which you aren't)

ah well i need more than a gig but i will use that trick in the future.
If a system is running properly, turn off restore points. Defrage your Hard disk and then turn on restore point again. Al the old restore points will be deleted and 1 new one created. That'll free upsignificant space on your harddrive.
to clear the system point all you have to do is is turn it off and all the previous restor points will be deleted, and don't delete your files, burn to cd,dvd or zip or better yet get an externall hard drive :lol: :lol:Quote:

If you aren't running your files compressed yet you might want to go into the folder settings for your movie folder and enable compressed, that ought to clear up some space.
Edit: and they can always be uncompressed later I think.

You can compress your drives or folders and make tons of space.
by right clicking on folder (eg: program files or windows etc)
-properties - advanced - compress folder - apply only to selected folders.
Empty all the temp files, and internet histories etc (can be done easily with Tracks Eraser or UltraWindows cleaner)
