IE cannot connect to the Internet.... FF works fine
IE cannot connect to the Internet yet FF works just fine.
I've Googled around for a bit but cannot find a working solution.
Windows Live Messenger will not connect either. It gives me the error code: 80048820
Again, I've Googled that and get different fixes all over the place but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else experienced this?
Re: IE cannot connect to the Internet.... FF works fine
I think I had a problem like this once but I dont remember what I did. I think it just started working by itself the next day or I think there was something wrong with my firewall. Just double check your firewall first and make sure its not blocking it.
I also found this, try it out:
1. In Internet Explorer, clear the Check for Server certificate revocation (requires restart) check box. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Internet Explorer.
- Click on the Tools menu, then click Internet Options in the pull down menu.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Under “Security” section tree, clear the Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart) check box.
- Click OK button.
- Exit Internet Explorer.
- Sign in to Windows Live Messenger again.
If that doesn't work try this link and see if it helps:

Re: IE cannot connect to the Internet.... FF works fine
I went through all those steps and nothing worked.
Went to the link you provided and went through those steps one at a time, testing after each step. Something in step 5 did the trick and both are now working. Well done. Thanks. :)
