Bought this Dell Laptop, off of someone. Yet it is password protected. And it isn't a Windows XP screen asking for the password of the user name. It's one of those DElL (system) screens asking for the password..How do I bypass this?

What is the model number?
You could try typing 'dell' I think they use that as a backup password sometimes but it might not work for laptops.
Also you could try removing the CMOS battery and/or clearing CMOS by using the jumper (need to know model number to find you clear instructions) but again that might not work with laptops.
You could also try calling the person you bought the laptop from or calling dell support.
Dell Inspiron 6000, and I don't think the BIOS isn't located on the CMOS, with the laptops..

Something in this guide will probably help you:

It seems to have a lot of good information.
There is also this (which is confirmed to work with a latitude 6000).
Let me know how it goes...
So did you have any luck?
I'v used a program called Password Recovery , boot from cd and Bob's your uncle . Dell's back door password is " Dell " I thought too depending on the BIOS maker .
Software recovery tool . http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/CmosPwd#CmosPwd_Download
try your luck
