Will it not hurt things that are? Fish Crab Shrimp Clam

In the net we caught two cod & two mega crabs.
Since crabs are cool we let them free. (after he toyed with them endlessly)
Then we caught millions of mini shrimp
in our amazing cola bottle trap lured in by
our smashed muscle clams over and over for their tasty meat.
We ate the cod bellisimo, but the mini shrimp was a no no morally.
They were freed.
please explain what happened.

A clam has no legs; it gets used as bait.
A fish also has no legs; it gets eaten.
A crab has 8(?)) legs; it gets set free.
Shrimp have lots of leg-like appendages; they also go free.

It's good to have legs...:)
