I've not broken the law, but I'm getting done by a dodgy garage and it looks like it's going to turn into a legal matter. Except I'm now skint due to being forced to pay a ridiculous sum to release my car and I can't afford a lawyer.

Seriously, what do you do in such circumstances? Is there no government agency you can turn to or summat?

Citizen's Advice Bureau would be my first port of call I think
