This Waterproof Power Strip Scares Me

Wet Circuits' waterproof power strip is so brilliant, it feels wrong. Just look at the water splashing all over the electrical outlets! That picture alone sends me quivering, I mean, I'm half-expecting it to blow up in a horrific explosion.
Not only is the Wet Circuits power strip water resistant, it also offers touch protection, controls temperature, prevents spark and lasts 4 times as long as your typical power strip (I wasn't aware power strips even expired).
The lovely 'Jolin' shows you how it works:
It costs $35, which isn't too bad considering the shock you'll give your friends when you pour water on it but is sort of expensive for only having 4 outlets and no USB drives. I'm not buying one yet, I'm still not ready to believe this thing really works. [Wet Circuits via Gear Diary]

Re: This Waterproof Power Strip Scares Me
makes no sense, for such a thingy to work you also need special plugs, plug need to become one with the power strip no water goes through
Re: This Waterproof Power Strip Scares Me
Not sure I see the point.
If I was ankle deep in water I'd be heading for the ark, not worrying about my power strips.
Re: This Waterproof Power Strip Scares Me
Lets see, basements flooded and what did I have to do..... Hmmmmm Oh yeah plug in the toaster:wacko:
Re: This Waterproof Power Strip Scares Me
I'm confused by this...
She puts those probes in and gets no voltage.
But when the light is plugged in it works.
When she sticks those tweezers in nothing happens.
So is there power there or not?
edit: Ok I think I figured it out.
The outlets are tamper resistant. You cannot stick anything into any one side of the outlet without simultaneously putting something into the other side.
And it's also water resistant. Which is just completely pointless, since whatever you're plugging in is not rated for water resistance.

Re: This Waterproof Power Strip Scares Me
Unless you live outside in the rain forest or in area where you get flooded all the time I dont see much use for this.
