illegal files encrypted into files DL'd through bittorrent?
My question pertains to the increasingly common phenomenon of people unwittingly downloading illegal or obscene files (ie child pornography) onto their computers through the use of p2p networks like limewire.
My question is this: If I download a movie or an application through bittorrent, and I make sure that I'm only downloading the one file that contains the movie or application, could files be hidden or encrypted onto that file? And if so, is there any possibility that this could serve as probable cause for the police to execute a search warrant on my house?

Won't happen if you download torrents from reliable sources.

Can files which have been modified be seeded?
Oh, and are isohunt and pirate bay reliable sources?
Oh, and can someone modify files that they seed?

If using public trackers then who knows what certain files contain. I have never downloaded anything that malicious thankfully but I stopped using public sites. You could face problems with the law downloading any copy-written movie, album, etc. Most private trackers are safe and will not allow that type of material on their site.

No, TPB and isohunt are public sites.
Not sure about your other question. If you are worried, join a private tracker like torrentbytes or request a invite to IPT.

Yes, but as a separate torrent. It's easy for the bad guys to inflate the amounts of seeders and leechers, though.

Nope, but VerTor.com or private trackers are. 99.99 if not 100% of the stuff you'll find on those are checked and fake-free.

Same as question 1.
Re: illegal files encrypted into files DL'd through bittorrent?
So if I download a torrent, I cannot modify that file and upload it with the same torrent?
Re: illegal files encrypted into files DL'd through bittorrent?
Nope, your client will realize the files have changed and stop right there.
Re: illegal files encrypted into files DL'd through bittorrent?
Alright, I've only downloaded torrents which have hundreds of seeders and are very highly rated on the websites that host them. Should I be worried about malicious code or illegal files being on my computer?

Actually, if you're going to keep on using public trackers, better use VerTor.com and get stuff from there...

Nothing's flawless, you should be running an up-to-date antivirus just in case.
