From my experience on the FST, I learned that is not really appropriate to ask invites on FTN, CN etc. ....

Btw I think the reason ( just my opinion) that such requests do rather poorly is that it's hard to support asking for any of them beyond "I want to be a member because I'm somewhat insecure and I just want to feel more important".
