Most effective Usenet (nzb) search engine and why?
I currently use binsearch and nzbclub's search engines and have become increasingly frustrated to find that a high percentage of the TV shows that I DL require passwords. The nzbclub's engine even allows users to rate each DL with a +/- but this feature is rarely used.
Any suggestions as to how I can verify the quality of the DL before I start a DL would be most appreciated.
Thanks ...

True but half the posts that show as NOT being PW protected actually are. You find this out AFTER wasting a DL. Thanks for replying.

Have you read this about Binsearch's new feature that opens and looks inside rar files?

Another one is mysterbin.com
And then there is the old fashioned way - opening the first rar to see if it's passworded before committing to the entire file set.
Re: Most effective Usenet (nzb) search engine and why?
I've kinda found that nzbindex is probably the most comprehensive/accurate among those mentioned already and a few more. Why may be because it appears that they utilize several major servers as their 'feeds', don't pre-filter things by newsgroup (like newzleech and others), and, just seem to be 'good'.
Doesn't mean that I don't take a look at several when trying to hone it down to a good nzb, but simply that I've found over the last few months (particularly during the recent Giganews fiasco), it seemed that things there kept very stable.

I also find NZBIndex to be very comprehensive and easy to use. For a free service this ranks in the top

I've never had a problem with NZBindex.com, the search function works well in almost all cases and I've never had a passworded file.
