Why the Delay?
I doubt many would be interested in this, but it's news for my state. Tom Delay has been convicted of money laundering by a jury of his peers.
It took about 5 years to get to trial, a time span that I suspect may have had some political dealings holding things up from both sides.
He could face life in prison. We don't tend to be merciful in Texas when it comes to sentencing, and we fast track enforcement of punishment, but I suspect that there may be some pressure to make this less than a slap on the wrist.

Re: Why the Delay?
Probation, no prison time, some sort of fine.
Credit for time served on Dancing With The Stars.

I do feel he will get off lightly.

Re: Why the Delay?
3 years prison 10 years probation. Out on $10,000 bail pending appeal, which could take years.
I just get the feeling he will be able to delay starting his sentence until we have a republican president to pardon him.

Re: Why the Delay?
I think you're probably right.
BTW, for an entertaining look at what got him into trouble see Casino Jack, starring Kevin Spacey.
