I just downloaded Peerblock, need some help please
Hi All, I am new to this site and was doing some simple downloading and got slapped by my internet carrier. Went on Zeropaid and got a lot of help from them, so here I am.
Again, I am not that good but just like getting some music and movies for my grands.
I was told to download peerblock. Ok, done, now is there anything I need to do once downloaded and running.
I really appreciate you all out there with help.

Yes, getting a good blocklist. PeerBlock should have a help file you can refer to.
Re: I just downloaded Peerblock, need some help please
1)Download peerblock
2)install it
3)installed invokes first configuration wizard
4) wizard ask about lists, you just select checkboxes
5)lists auto installs , blocking starts
done
Re: I just downloaded Peerblock, need some help please

If you only use uTorrent, then you can take advantage of its ipfilter.dat support. That's a much better solution.
Re: I just downloaded Peerblock, need some help please
isn't peerblocks list bigger and more complete then a list i would get some where else?

Not necessarily, and a bigger list doesn't equal better security, either. I use uIpFilterX because it only blocks IPs that have actively been spotted engaging on harmful activities (that's why it's so small).

firstly, peerblock does not have any lists, it uses existing blocklist maintained by other people
Bigger is theoretically better, but list like pip(paranoid ip filter) are overprotective and makes your browsing experience terrible.
The problem of filters is, they are updated by volunteers, so they are always one step behind of active threads. They are efficient against static addresses like sony, mpaa and etc but even the pip is not notable effective against active hacker address blocks. So go with level 1.

If I remember correctly, you can find it on iblocklist.com when it's up.

What are you talking about? The latest uIpFilter was released last February 27th.
