Animated avatars in the torrent community
It's seems over the years that animated avatars have gotten more and more over-the-top. They are now at a point where they distract from the entire thread instead of just that specific moron's (usually pointless) postings. And at least to me they are extremely unpleasant.
One or two simple animations can be creative and refreshing to see, but now there's five different explosions going on in the foreground while the background image is itself having a seizure. Very very excessive.

Are you one of these people? What are your thoughts on this?

Re: Animated avatars in the torrent community
Along with these kinda aggressive avatars there's also a trend of having nude/vulgar avatars, I never understood what purpose that serve.

If it wasn't for that convenient determining factor I'd be left with the solid fallback of foreigners and anyone who likes trance.
Btw mine isn't animated ,it's an optical allusion.

Shit I know how adblock works if it comes down to that, thankfully these sorts of avatars don't stray far from the word games forums.
Re: Animated avatars in the torrent community
In general, I like the creativity/flair they bring. I do, however, block the ones that interfere with my ability to read the posts on a page.
Re: Animated avatars in the torrent community
Those avatar's serve a purpose. Most teenagers want to be noticed on some trackers, and the more flashy their avatar is, the more people will notice it, be it either due to the right or wrong reasons.
Clearly, I associate such animated avatars with teenagers.
