While interesting, a $15k investment is not enough to make a judge sway one way or another on a decision. There are FAR more corrupt dealings going on between government and major corps.
It's not really the amount that matters, but the fact that it renders impartiality moot. Judges owning Verizon stock should not be involved in these matters.
Verizon is at $48.61,
If he has $15000 worth, that's 308 shares.
The yearly dividend on 308 shares is $2.20 per share or $677.
While that might not be considered a conflict,
it allows the holder
to speak, propose policy, lobby and vote at shareholder meetings
for the officers of Verizon
and THAT is obviously a conflict.
