hey,
recently got adsl (only 256/64...i know but its expensive here)... anywho, it seems that in emule, shareaza and any bittorrent programme, my uploads are reasonable - between 6-10KB/s but my downloads are appalling...when they should be around 20-30KB/s... why is this?

for emule, bad settings and technique :)
check common topics in emuleplus forum for ways to improve speeds...the site is slow at the moment, or might not load.
it looks like you got DSL lite, it slower then normal DSL, mine is 1.5 mb/s I think, but I only get speeds of 150kb/s, because I think you gotta divide it by like 8 or something like that.
i have 600/128kbps.... so >> 75/16KB download upload.

yeh, i thought you had to divide it by about 8... which should still give me about 20-30k d/l speed though... funny thing is i nearly always get high teens or twenties when using kl++...shame there's so much crap on it...
is it just me or has bittorrent and irc slowed down the last couple weeks? when i changed to unlimited adsl, my isp gave me new settings.. is it possible to tweak these in my LAN confiuration to give better downloads, cause my uploads are fine (my isp will be wondering what i'm doing!)... is it also possible that my isp is limiting my d/l's in certain protocols? (ie bt,irc)

downloads... hmm... You have to set u/l / d/l rate in each p2p program
depending on your connections - it varies....
