I've heard some really bad things about MS's tech support and am wondering if you guys might be able to help. When I install Office XP, it doesn't ask for a key, but just installs everything and acts like everything is fine. But when I try to use it, it doesn't load the program I want to use (e.g. Word XP). It is a legal copy I bought while at college.
Specs of current computer:
Compaq Presario 5000
Windows ME
20 GB Quantum Fireball HDD
3.5" floppy
8x4x32 CD-RW (replacement of older drive)
16x DVD-ROM (added into bay later)
256 MB SDRAM
Forgot to add: AMD AThlon 1.1 Ghz processor

Office XP works with any thing past win95 ;)
Try copying the contents to a desktop folder and install it through add/remove programs instead.

Yeah, I used to have winME with Office XP loaded on it. They're compatible.
Sorry though, I have no idea what's wrong. Even though it is legal, doesn't necessarily mean that the CD's in good condition. It could always be a legal defect. Who knows? Maybe Microsoft will replace it for you.....
