I have been struggling for the past 10 days or so with a new direction for my case cooling solution. It has proven to be more difficult to construct than first I had imagined, so sadly this is not going to be the unveiling.
Whilst randomly puttering about ( ostensibly pondering my cooling tower), I took another look at my current HDD mounting arrangement and realized that I could cram one more fan onto it.
Being a graduate of the Tim Allen School of Modding ("If some is good then more is better, and if more is better then way too much should be just about perfect!").
Here are the requisite parts and the already modded belly pan...

And here they are assembled...

The assembly in position...

My temp monitor reports that my HDD is maintaining exact case ambient with this arrangement.
It'll do.
I can already tell that ultimately I'm going to end up mounting something like this...

Screw the noise.
I assume, given the already well documented magical properties that exist your case Abu, that, should you duplicate this modification, you may achieve HDD temps in the sub-zero range.
Get busy, son.

ur pics arn't working. and how is this a present for me?

ah looks nice....really clean.....is the fan on the bottom for something in particular or just general cooling?
-
The floor fan is the first step in the direction I was hoping to go cooling-wise.
Unfortunately, the ATX power connector ( and, to a smaller extent, the IDE cables) are making my planned part very difficult to properly configure.
In fact, it may be more trouble than it's worth.
So right now that fan is mainly assisting in establishing a vertical airflow pattern in my case.
Even though the main roofvents don't have fans in them there is a very noticable and vigorous flow of warm air exiting through them.
This arrangement ( which is now over 5 days old) has yielded the best results to date.
After 24 hrs of continuous 100% CPU usage (ProteinFolding) my CPU temp is 33degC and case ambient ( as measured directly over the HSF) is 25.5C.
Edit: Abu, you may have noticed that my HDD bellypan cooler is very similar to the miraculous version that you have. I just thought that with a little elbow grease and a spare fan you might wish to try something similar.
Your other gift option was a stocking full of coal.
Is anyone else having trouble with the pictures?
My old web host has vanished (PicStore) and I'm using this one ( recommended by Body1234) in the interim.
They ain't perfect, that's for sure, but what do you expect for free?
