hi
im looking to replace the chipset fan on my mobo as its quit noisey, but im not sure what fan ill need

the smaller the fan the faster it has to spin to put out more air...so small fans are noisy a lot of the time...thats a heat sink and a fan..so are you thinking about taking the fan off and putting it on your heatsink?
yeah if it will go on, also i read somwere that you can cool thes chipsets with just a heatsink could this be right do u think?
Yes, a lot of boards cool the chipset with just a Heat Sink. My new Asus board uses just a Heat Sink and everything works great with overclocking :)
Try to find a larger heatsink and leave out the fan. I like the ones they have on the Asus boards.

Ok $55 is a LITTLE high for a chipset cooler...omg Look
They heatsinks for the socket made by that company are like $80! GOD!
This compares 4 diff chipset coolers..the blue orb looks great to me and only cost $12..might want to look into that..but I dont know how quite it is
Edit: yeah I was looking at the zalman one Callum showed..it looks pretty good also.
i've jsut being looking at my borad and ther isn't any holes round the the chip to put and heatsink like that on, the one that is on now is sort ov spring loaded <_<
im thinking this might work, the "spring" on my heatsink now, is just a bit of wire that goes over the heatsink then hooks into sort of eyelets at either side ov the chip. So if i was to get aZalman ZM-NB47J Northbridge Cooler ---> http://www.overclock.co.uk/customer/produc...&cat=376&page=1
i should be able to do the samthing with that heatsink, that should be ok shouldn't it?
