My brother-in-law moved right across the street from me, and had no cable or internet( he had the basic 6 channels or whatever). He needed an update for his computer, so i took my cable modem over to his house and plugged it in and downloaded his update. I came back over to my house, and he calls me and tells me he has cable TV channels now!!! Its still working after 2 months. he has the same channel package i have. I guess my cable modem must have somehow unlocked the signal to be sent down his line because i am a customer with the cable company.. Strange shit. and btw, i still have my cable as well.

Cool. What company is it? Might help others somehow...

i just have a small local company. they aint big like adelphia or comcast. someone should try it to see if it works everywhere. I should tell my neighbors to pay me for cable, and ill upgrade to the biggest package, and itll be free for me, plus i may make few bucks

Cable television is sent through the same coax as the internet.
Just split it before the modem and you've got cable TV.
Some things of note:
1. It doesn't work for digital cable.
2. They can limit the bandwidth so it doesn't include premium channels.
3. In most cases cable internet costs more if you don't have cable TV.
