There are a few bad cover songs uhmm...
Anyone who tries to cover Peter Gabriel has failed miserably. A good example of this is, Erasure - Solsbury Hill (although the 37B remix isn't all that bad)
Kill Hannahs version of Fischerspooner's cover of The 15th by the wire is terribly boring.
I agree with the Kelly Osbourne and Britney Spears Covers. Those covers are pure shit.
and the award for Worst Cover Song EVER goes to T.A.T.U for slaughtering The Smiths' - How Soon is Now?
But cover songs I love are:
Baby's on Fire covered for the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack, although the guitar parts could've used some tweaking.

Best cover ever is probably "Big D And The Kids Table - Wailing Paddle", originaly by the Rudiments. It's very similar to the original, but it just kicks ass, especially live.
