Getting New Athlon Xp 2500+

I plan on overclocking my new atlhon xp 2500+ Barton 166/333mhz FSB 512kb L2 Cache to a athlon xp 3200+. I am wondering what type of cooling I might need and and other stuff that can help me overclock successfully?

a 2500 can OC to a 3200 with regular fans, just have a few of them
it can also OC to 3200 w/ the stock heatsink that comes with it
all that is needed is sufficient airflow
You may wanna talk to bigdawgfox, he recently OC'ed his to a 3400 w/ stable temps and no liquid cooling
Right now mine isn't OC'ed that much, as I am in need for some new thermal paste, but when that comes mine will be at 3200 as well

i have three fans in my case one on processor i currently have, one on power supply, and one on side of the case, is that enough cooling for it?

You don't just set it at 3200 and away you go
OC a little at a time and check your temps, make sure it is stable and you dont burn out your CPU, I guess just monitor it and go up in small steps and you should be fine, just stop once your temps seem to be too high for your likings

That depends.
What are your temps now?

Ideally, you will want high twenties to low thirties at idle and under 40°C at full load before you begin to OC.
That should leave you with a margin of safety when your temps begin to rise.
Be especially wary as you up the vCore, temps will jump fast then.

When you try to determine your load temps make sure you run your stress test for at least a few hours as heat soak is a cumulative phenomonon and may not show up right away.

No. You got to get the retail one w/HSF & a 3yr warranty. The one you linked to is OEM, no HSF & only a 15-90day warranty.

Actually, that's high for either, but particularly worrisome if it's idle temp.
You will be pumping more heat into the case with a clocked 2500 than you are now.....
