Im also planning on OC this processor to speeds like bigdawg, however at the moment my temperatures are
Case: 29
CPU: 57
after running all three benchmarks....
thats pretty high isnt it?
my temps b4 were
Case: 29
CPU: 35 - 40
running full load...
I have 2 case fans, a standard CPU fan and i am planning on getting artic silver soon.
When i get my new memory (DDR400) i will post back on this thread to let you know how my overclocking is going

As I have already told you. The temp readings on that mobo are not right.
What do you have between the CPU and the heatsink now?
-
im assuming it is a copper plate. Standard heatsink and fan. Also it appeared as though the copper had some kind of thermal paste on it
-
you gotta replace the thermal paste everytime the heatsync is removed so that is why your temps are so high. id hurry up and get that arctic silver pretty soon as 57 is high!
-
are you sure,
fresh outta the box, surely the CPU wud be alright to be installed straight away without thermal paste. As i said b4... ther appeared to be thermal paste (or a sticky greyish square on the copper plate) already on it!!!
p.s VB i went into BIOS and my temps were 60 degree for CPU..!!!!
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiT

Hello dray_02.
Did you hear me?
That isn't the right temp!
That mobo shows the wrong reading.
How many time do I have to tell you that?
Please confirm that you have read and understand this.
-
That would be a thermal pad. Artic Silver is much better.
Now that you have heated the pad up, it will be much harder to remove then if you would have just waited untill you got some Artic silver. But 60 is VERY high for a CPU...wierd.. :(
-
Your thermistors, or something on their reading line is throwing off the readings at board level, so they will display wrong EVERYWHERE.
Remove the heatsink, check to see the contact between it and the CPU core. Then reseat the heatsink, making sure it just wasnt a bad seating.
If temps are still that high, than it is indeed a bad reading all the way around.

HELLO???
Has anyone read my Posts?????????????

That would suck to have a bad sensor...you would never be able to overclock much without feeling scred
