hey i downloaded a movie with an ASF tag on it.
im not sure if this means anything or not, but i absoulutely cannot fast forward it, so if i watch it i have to watch it right from the start.... but most of the action is near the end... anyway, i just want be able to make it so that i can browse the whole film freely.

Well I used this didn't notice a drop in quality.

Open the video up in media player classic. It will let you seek forward and back. Wmp will not.
There should be a media player classic in your \Program Files\Windows Media\folder
or something like that, wherever you wmp executable is there should be a mpc there as well.
