Disable Tasks "only" For A Certain Xp Account?

Ok, I want to have a Limited account which has nearly everything disable in Startup, Services, etc. (I know not to disable RemoteProcedureCall already and a few other "required" things so windows is stable)
The only problem is, If I try to disable the stuff for that account in "Admin" mode, then swap it back to Limited.. it disables the same stuff for "All" accounts. This is very annoying. How do I only modify the services and startup tasks for a certain account only??? Any third party programs required?

Try running msconfig.exe in the account you want to config.

hint: use run as...

Try also Startup Control Panel

Also try to remember that some startup groups are common for all accounts

No guys, I did those already and as I said.. "When I disable something on one account, it disables it on all accounts".
I want to goto some kind of Account Service manager or something.. so u dont edit them for everyone account at once.

msconfig won't work for that.

You need to edit your group policy settings.

Start ---> run --> gpedit.msc

Or go in the administrative tools section in control panel.

You can also add custom snap-ins for group policy if you want to add something you dont see there. :1eye:

it's pretty complicated. How do i start?
I cant find the area were i select a certain user to edit.

Thats because that tool is primarily for administrators to configure group policy settings on a domain, but any end user can figure out how to use it.

If you take a long look at it though it becomes self explanatory. Each option of the snap-in is either:

*enable
*disable
*not defined

The drawback is once you adjust all thoose settings you may need to go back and put a setting back the way it was and you may get confused as to what you set. Also most (not all) options are global as opposed to single user options

My suggestion:

delete any startup items in the user&#39;s startup folder that you don&#39;t want to start up. As for the services, I don&#39;t kow what to tell you.

If you insist on editing every option for a single user then you need to install Windows 2000 or 2003 server and set up a primary domain controller and then run gpedit.msc.

hehe nope, not worth it. Maybe I&#39;ll find a 3rd part app out there that can do what i want.

If you can&#39;t find a third party app and decide to tinker with it anyway here is a screenshot of the area you might need to make the adjustments in xp. Little blurry but it gives you a general idea.
