EA put the heavily modded sequel to their smash hit cruise-em-up under starters orders
It's fair to say that NFS Underground's massive commercial success took a few commentators by surprise - it was a Christmas smash and has now gone on to shift more than five million copies worldwide - but EA, as ever, show no signs of resting on their laurels. Five months after Underground's release, 2 is already in the works.
Most significantly, Undeground 2 will feature an entirely new free-roaming mode, where you'll be cruising the 'hood, on the hunt for rival racers. Once you find one, you'll need to challenge them. Beat them and they'll tip you off to new courses, open upgrade options and, we imagine, give you their beloved wheels.
EA Canada also plan to add in 30 licensed cars, further new modes and a staggering number of custom and tuning options. Petrolhead heaven, in other words.
Need for Speed Underground 2 is haring towards an autumn release on PC, PS2, Xbox and Gamecube
