Hsf Fan Sizes?

I want to change the fan on my retail AMD heatsink.. but I don't know what size it is.. I think its 90? is it right?

I doubt it
depends on what AMD chip you have
I know the stock 2500+ has a 60mm and the stock 2800+ has a 70mm
I don't think any have a 90mm though

EDIT Why not just get a ruler and measure it?

Mine is a 2600+ TB.. It takes alot of effort opening it and theres no room for a ruler..

It's 60mm most likely...
most heatsinks use 60mm fans.

i recomend u get an 80mm fan and an 80mm to 60mm fan adaptor. ;) much much quieter than the old 60mm fan. :)

Do they get better airflow than 60mm? Also, what is the socket for my chip? I know its socket a but I need that number part too..

not too sure what number you are talking about...


and no it's not particularly better airflow. You can get fast 80mm fans or slow moving ones, but for sure it is quieter than a 60mm fan.

Thank you storm.. you guys got any recoms. for what heatsink and fan I should get for my chip?

My friend is getting an SP-97, but that is for extreme overclocking and cost $55.

I have a 60 to 80mm fan adapter for my stock heatsink and fan.

Socket 462.

The stock heatsink with a fan adaptor fitted with 80mm fan @ about 2800 RPM works great and quite quietly.
