I saw a e-book on kazaa about repairing broken hds, I think it was called "101 ways to repair a broken hard drive"
Id post a link but I dont have it any more
have u tried slaving it?
It's been a slave ever since.
I tried the following techniques and failed:
1. Droped it onto the table from 4" drop. (if the disks inside got sticky/stuck)
2. Tapped it on the table slighty on each side
3. used new hd wire (i had a spare)
4. cooled it off for a long time lettng it sit
5. blew it with an air gun (cant get it open)
Recover your data and contact the HD maker. Over the years I've sent 5 HDs for replacement (WD & Maxtor) and the only cost is shipping.
umm it has pirated stuff on it though, even if I wipe they can get it back.
Hmm maybe i break the disk inside then send back..
It's a maxtor
If you break it like that, it won't be under warranty any longer. That would be considered abusive use.
I also think there is a seal marked "warranty void if seal broken" or something like that.
They don't care, they make hardware, not software. You aren't stealing from them, and I personally have sent drives back to Western Digital, loaded with warez, and never had a problem. I believe it's illegal for them to try to recover any data from it.--Quote:

It is illegal for them for them to recover any data because if they did that then they would be breaking the data protection act.
And if they used that data to try and get u done then you could sue them under breaking the data protection act and claim that the software u had was for "evaluation purposes" only. :w00t:
