Are these 2 components compatible?
Motherboard =
Athlon XP / Duron 600MHz – XP3200+ ~ nVidia nForce2 Ultra400 ~ 266 / 333 / 400 MHz ~ 4 x DDR-SDRAM ~ Dual Channel ~ Supports up to 3GB
Processor =
AMD RETAIL ATHLON 64 3500+ SOCKET 754 1600MHZ
I want to replace my AMD Athlonx 2000+ XP
I have Windows xp pro / 512 DDR 2700 ram
Re: Are these 2 components compatible?
No, they are not.
The motherboard is for a socketA chip. not 754 like the CPU you list.
Re: Are these 2 components compatible?
The Athlon XP motherboard has a socket A as clocker said. For 462 pin Athlon CPUs.
That 64 bit processor has 754 pins so you would need a motherboard with socket 754 for that. (You could also look into 939 pin/socket).
Or you could get a faster Athlon XP CPU.

Alternatively, you could just get a hamster.
Mine consumes very little electricity, generates very little heat and can be inserted (with a bit of force) into any motherboard socket.
Just a suggestion.
Hope this helps
:P .

And with a fan attached to the wheel no doubt it is self-cooling too. :whistling

I wouldn't know.
The wheel is an accessory I could not afford.
Perhaps Santa will see fit to bring me one.
Then again, perhaps not.

Ah, so Stanford U. has finally conquered the concept of the wheel.
You go, boys!

Sometime they may even get round to understanding clothes too. At the moment I think they are just folding them.
Speaking of which, has anyone seen my coat?
