If I wanted to drill a hole in the ceiling should I drill from underneath or should I drill from the attic and downwards?
I just need to make a smallish hole for an aerial cable to go into. Any help gratefully accepted.

I think you should drill from underneath.
On a Makita advert you see a man drilling a hole from underneath and getting dust in his eye - hence the reason you should buy one of their drills that prevents this from happening.
Note that I have learned everything I know about DIY from adverts because I've never done any and I wouldn't watch an actual program about DIY.
Drill from the finished ceiling up.
Doing it the other way could result in an ugly breakthrough hole in the part you can see.
I knew all those years watching This Old House would bear fruit eventually.
Are you trying to drill into a joist or avoid a joist?
EDIT: whoops didn't read the question. Avoid, obviously! :frusty:
as per clocker's advice. if you drill the other way, paint could crack etc... and look unsightly. good luck.
Cheers guys.
I'm getting the landlady to do it anyhows, but I'll be able to tell her the correct way to do it.
i think cheese lives in the attic and just wants to spy on hawt naked ladies ...or possibly men :shifty:
