Using a USA Xbox in the uk?
im going to get an xbox(usa) but live in the uk
thinking about it - it will come with a us power plug on it wont it? can anyone tell me the best way round this?
is it ok to use a us to uk converter like you would with a shaver?
or can you buy european xbox's in america anywhere?
actually peezy - might just pm you mate - you porbably know bout this sort of stuff
cheers lads
Re: Using a USA Xbox in the uk?
youll need a 110v - 240v inverter, the us run on 110v, so the xbox will be setup for that voltage, where as us brits use 240v.
Re: Using a USA Xbox in the uk?
cheers for that Livy - any idea on price with them?
Re: Using a USA Xbox in the uk?
Arn't they the standard things that you can buy at an airport for like £5. That said if you want a UK box brought, you can send someone he money get them to buy it and send it to you. USA Xbox should work but without a chip the games wouldn't. Meaning you would have to import all your games from USA or chip and play retial UK and copied.
Re: Using a USA Xbox in the uk?
inverters are quite expensive as they have to change the voltage, the things your on about just change whats at the end of the plug for use in europe which is also 240v,
another option may be a new xbox power supply.

when i was shipping out my psone to europe as a gift, i bought a voltage converter and a plug for only 6$...so they are not expensive.
Re: Using a USA Xbox in the uk?
you can get them in tesco's, something like £10 for a pack of 2
Re: Using a USA Xbox in the uk?
oh well, i thought they were more expensive than that.
Re: Using a USA Xbox in the uk?
i saw them in tesco's today actually. and yeah they were £12.99 for two - so not too bad at all.
got a uk chipped xbox in the end due to the power converter and ntsc tv signal probs
cheers for all the help everyone!
Re: Using a USA Xbox in the uk?
oh yeah, forgot about the different tv signals, mind you most modern tv will support ntsc.
