Upload rate afects Dwld Rate ???
 Hi, I recently started downloading bittorrent files,
and I use TorrentStorm to manage my downloads. So, you might know that there is an option that allows you to lower the ¨Maximum Upload Rate¨ from infinite to just 3kb or so.
Ok, What I would like to know is this,
does my upload rate affects me in some way on my download rate?,
like saying, ¨the less I share, the less I get¨?
Please, any help here would be good,
i went first to the guide on Bittorrent that the forun has, but couldn´t find anything.
Re: Upload rate afects Dwld Rate ???
From my expirience, it sometimes depends on who you are connected to you. Ive had my upload all the way down and my speed would be full. Other times i would have to turn the up some to get a faster down speed.
Re: Upload rate afects Dwld Rate ???
You should set your upload rate to about 80% of your upload capacity when downloading so your download can request 'the next bit'
Few if any Bt users keep track of others ul/dl rate (I'm not even sure how you'd do it) the app itself doesn't penalize/reward based on ul/dl rate

actualy most, if not all BT clients, upload the most to the clients that they download the most from.
but if there are more seeders then leachers it doesn't matter most times
Re: Upload rate afects Dwld Rate ???
nah thier both diffrent thing, it doesnt effict downloading at all.
but some it happens that u need little free upload for loading some webpages.
Re: Upload rate afects Dwld Rate ???
Since there are almost always more prospective downloaders than you have bandwidth for, your client has to choose which ones to share with. It picks by giving preference to the people who share the most with it. This means the people who upload the most get the fastest downloads, a property known as "leech resistance", since it discourages "leeches" from trying to download the file without uploading it to anyone.

it just doesn't work that way, if you set it to dial up/isdn it goes faster than on unlimited :(
its a cheating technic, I do this just to get the file faster, but I seed afterwords too make up for it.
Re: Upload rate afects Dwld Rate ???
If you set uploads to unlimited you don't leave room for ACKs and that slows your downloads

Re: Upload rate afects Dwld Rate ???
I have uploaded at a mere 3kb/s and I still downloaded at my max speed of 310kb/s.
