I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 with a CDRW and DVD+RW Duel Drive. the model is
HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GCA-4040N and I use Nero to Burn, I have not been able to burn a DVD yet I keep getting errors. I used Memorex DVD+RW 4.7GB 4X
My question is could it be the media I am using or could be drivers be out of date. Or could my drive be bad.
That's a combo CD-RW and DVD-ROM drive.
It can burn CDs but only read DVDs.
But it does say DVD+Rewritable on the front
Apologies, I assumed your original statement "HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GCA-4040N" was accurate.
Apparently that drive is very picky about media. See if you can find firmware updates, that usually helps.
There are also reports that some variants will only support 2.4x media, maybe that's your problem.
If you don't mind could lead me in the right direction for firmware updates
