Looking For Portable HDD's that play Divx
Hi,
I want to watch my divx files etc. on my T.V. but its just not feasable cos they are so far apart!
So was looking for an alternative options.
Maybe Looking to buy a portable HDD that play divx files straight from HDD
like these two...
LACIE Silverscreen
RIMAX HDDivx
I never knew they existed until recently... are there any others?
Or alternatively Is there a better way for me?
Thanks
p.s. by the way I have a NVida Geforce TI-4600 128mb Graphics card.

you have a dvd burner? I'm not familiar with that model but mine plays 99% of everything I can throw at it, the only problem is it won't play Xvid files that were encoded with QPEL (Quarterpixel Quantization)

I heard its chip based and we have to wait for the next generation divx players for the QPEL fix.
A dvd burner would save you burning tons of cdr's, I can get 2 seasons of most half hour shows or 6 divx movies on one dvdr
dvdr's or less than .40c

how expensive are those hard drive media players? 'cause, there are non-drive players which can stream things from a Windows pc over ethernet, for only about $200 USD... which may be perfectly adequate for your needs.
there's this... http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=318
and this... http://www.linksys.com/extend/
an Xbox game console is also a good choice at $150 USD, since it's easy to apply a hack to it (no mucking around with the nuts & bolts: you just need a memory card, a USB memory card writer, and a particular game which is able to boot the hacked save file), install Xbox Media Center, and essentially have a small-ish multimedia PC for a low price in your tv room.

apparently Microsoft has also taken a cue from the hackers and released a similar thing officially, which can be used without voiding the warranty... http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x...erextender.htm

You might want to look into one of these things... I'm thinking about getting one of these

I was about to suggest getting an xbox.
Xbox - $150
200 GB hd - $100
$250 to be able to keep a hell of alot of divx/bin/mpg/mov and all other formats on the hd.
