Is there an advantage to having two DVD players
I just purchased my first DVD burner, and have my old CD writer as a slave.
If my slave was a DVD player what are the advantages?
I know from using DVD shrink you have to save the iso to your drive and edit the stuff out you don't want, so having a second dvd player wouldn't save time.
Or would it?

Well, maybe when copying music, running the original in the reader.
But I always got better results if I let it save to hd there too.
Only reason I'd go out of my way to make sure there were two dvd roms in my computer would be if I had some kind of running backup thing going, otherwise I'd put my money elsewhere.
But if you've got the wattage to spare and another drive just lying around, and assuming you don't need the channel for something else, you won't gain that much by taking it out either.

My opinion... A waste of money.
You can also remove the CD writer as slave. The DVD burner can do everything.
Re: Is there an advantage to having two DVD players
You can watch a DVD on the player while burning one on the burner. ;)

Cd writers can burn CD-r's faster

well there is one reason, sometimes if there are multiple users on a computer that requier dvd's to exicute progrmas, then you can leave the dvd's in the drive. Also, some dvd's are not protected ie home movies and a 1:1 copy can be made then.

Ditto, just as fast....less than 3 min.
Re: Is there an advantage to having two DVD players
Only reason I can think of is some dvd roms or burners have a better reading capability than others. But for the average user I would say little advantage. :whistling
Re: Is there an advantage to having two DVD players
only real uses for two drives would be to leave discs in them for stuff such as games or to burn "on-the-fly"(disc to disc). But i hate doing it that way, imo it's better to just copy to the hard drive first then burn.
