ZoneAlarm leaks?

i reinstalled recently ZA to test out one of the new versions
and i noticed it leaks abit of data before blocking
its happend two times noticably yesterday

example:
i start a game that has multiplayer (& is not on my ZA prog list)
click on internet games
and about three servers get pinged before the component control box pops up

so i guess that means data was sent out and retrieved

the reason i believe that is behind this is that because ZA dont work on driver level

any one experienced anything like this?

I can't say I've noticed, I know sometimes my red level may go up even when I'm not doing anything, even though your mamaging to ping a couple of servers does that mean ZA is releasing any of your info? maybe your not actually managing to ping any servers its just coming up with ping times from your cache from the last time you played it online. I'm making more questions than answers here :)

im gonna have to conduct a few more little experiments

@fiber , I'm sill useing ZA pro 4.5.549.000. Why ? Its one one the better ones ! But JMHO. It 's still avalable online to download . :)

I recently switched to Sygate and like it better than ZA.
ZoneAlarms 4.5.538.001 was one of their better ones in my opinion.
Doesn't ZA still phone home??


To fix the phone home:
-close Zone Alarm
-open registry editor
-goto the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zone Labs\Zone Alarm
In the right pane you will see CfgMain, double click that
Use you keyboard arrow keys downwards until you reach 0028
On line #6 (0028), press the right arrow key 5 times, then hit backspace, type 00 on your keyboard then click OK.
-Restart Zone Alarm.
