Putting your emailadress directly on a site - good or bad?(spam?)
I'm making my main/real site
in the contacts section i should obviously have an email adress.
but i read somewhere that if you put your email open on your site
jojo @t gmail.com etc
the spam bots will move in and rape my email account.
is this true?
and is there a method to prevent this happening?
in this case i want to use my legitemate account.
thanks for tips

It's better to direct visitors to a form to fill in rather that have a link on an email address
Re: Putting your emailadress directly on a site - good or bad?(spam?)
I also use a forum style setup like a feedback thing as I dont think they can see the actual email while crawling that way although I also have direct links to the eamil which is registered to the site and then fowarded and have not had any issues as of yet and the site is listed even on google although since its a site email thats fowarded I can change it very easily if need be...
Re: Putting your emailadress directly on a site - good or bad?(spam?)
I've heard you shouldn't use the mailto: function to post your email on a site because then (as you said) spam bots will find it and spam it.
It's better to just write it in plain text and have them ahve to copy/paste it to email you.

ok i understand now - yes i read somewhere that there is a "form" reply method which hides your email.

Alot of ISP offer a pre set email form on their web space that hides the actual address.
If you want you can just copy the html into your web page, build around it or just link to it also...

I do it.
then again, I don't care about much.
