tooltip pop up + error reporting
every once in a while i get this annoying tooltip pop up saying i can improve the performance of the usb ports. i click on it, it lists my usb ports and says that there not high speed so i cant improve the performance, then i close the pop up screen. the thing is it keeps coming back. how do i disable this specific tooltip? also how do i disble error reporting to microsoft? thanks
Re: tooltip pop up + error reporting
To disable Error reporting
control panel >adminastritive tools services
double click "error reporting" - mark "disable"
ok
as for the usb popup - never experienced nor heard of it - this is not normal
Re: tooltip pop up + error reporting
What have you got plugged into the usb port(s)?
Whatever it is, it sounds like somethings polling the usb connection on a regular basis and then going back into standby mode until the next time.
It also has to be a usb 2 device plugged into a usb 1 port for that tooltip to appear.
Quick 'n dirty way out is to nip down the shops and buy yourself a cheap PCI usb 2 card and plug the usb 2 device(s) into that instead.

Re: tooltip pop up + error reporting
Yep, just as I suspected. You have fast USB 2.0 devices plugged into slow USB 1.1 ports.
I get the exact same things popping up when I plug my USB 2.0 flash drive into my PC.
So I've already given you the solution...
