Video Editing Software

I was looking for a video editing program that easily and quickly lets me clip videos and save them as a new file. What Cool Edit does for audio files is what I am looking for but with video files

Windows Movie Maker if you have it already. It does this.

WMM only let you save it as 1 filetype (if I remember correct .wmv)

It can save as AVI too but uncompressed.
