Do you give your PC a name ?

Hi Guys

I have been into PCs since the mid 80's.

My brother always named his PC Eric (something to do with his budgie and Monty Python). I being a little older and more mature (?!), never did so.

But over the last few years my live-in partner and I have obtained a few more PC's. So instead of saying "hey Dear (I always call her that) I'm going to copy some files from the PC in the lounge to the one in the shed. I came up with the idea of naming them.

She is pretty good with that sort of thing, so as the one in the lounge was an old beige case and the one in the shed (mine) was a black case, she came up with the idea of calling them Ivory and Ebony. (After the McCartney/Wonder song).

I liked that and we have been able to talk about Ebony and Ivory over the last few years.

I recently built a new PC (our third one) and in keeping with our naming system I thought I better get a different colour case, so I bought a Thermaltake Aguilla case in Silver. (It loooks neat but has a few design faults).

So I came up with the name for it of Eldorado which struck me as being good for silver - eg the Spanish were always looking for silver and gold in the land of Eldorado.

So now we have 3 PC's

Ivory
Ebony
Eldorado.

Do you name your PC's ? and If so tell us your names, it could be fun ! (Piece of Shit is not allowed !)

You guys are weird. :lol: None of the people i know name their computers. I suppose i could give mine a name...

I haven't named my PCs, well except for HOMEPC and WORKPC, but on my work PC I have named my drives for some reason.

A: Drive - Mercury
C: Drive - Andromeda
E: Drive - Achilles
F: Drive - Pegasus

No I dont name my computer but i name my guitars my second girlfriends ;)
my girlfriend calls my computer something out of startrek but meh it looks good :w00t:

My laptop is called "lappy". My main PC is called "Skynet7", the "7" stands for the number of times I've reinstalled Windows since I moved in with Crabgirl (6 months ago...). Before I moved in with Crabgirl I named my computers with girl's names.

I don't know the names of any transformers :(

Would it be cooler to name them after the teenage mutant ninja turtles? :unsure:

Renamed them after the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse :smilie4:

Drive E: is Aria ->that's where I keep the movies I make

"Dax" if anything thats what the case is called had "Dax" on the top with a sticker flames nd all that shit coming off it, normaly just call it my pc "PC" and laptop "Laptop" or "Craptop" :P

I've never named my PCs but Mrs Chewie always did. Always the same name, too: That Thing, as in, "suppose you were on That Thing all night again." :(

I haven't named mine as I'm not that crazy or obsessed yet over my computer. :P Maybe as a joke...

It's one thing to have pictures of my computer for having pride for something I made myself but it's another to start referring it a certain name. :rolleyes:

My PC is called as me but in female form...

Since I'm using a cheap hand me down at the moment, I don't quite have the emotional investment in it to figure out a name besides "Slow piece of crap".

Once I finally build my own, I might have to dub it something - Either HAL (2001: Space Odyssey) or Lucy (Hackers)

Mine has always been Dave or Hal 2007 ( year changes of course ) .

i used to name my pc BOB.

but now, im more adventurous:

PC1 and also PC2 are the names of my pc's!!
